Our Story
Hold the Reins was founded by Michael Hall, who has spent his career as a US Navy SEAL and recognized the need to establish an early intervention mechanism to reduce suicide & divorce rates in the special warfare community; two topics that resonate deeply within his own experiences. Mike has decided to take this challenge head-on as he transitions out of the Navy and into Hold the Reins full time where he will serve as CEO and counselor. With a love of horses and a desire to help his fellow operators keep control of their lives, Hold the Reins was established:
Due to the extraordinary pressures they face, service members are often faced with problems such as PTSD, depression, anxiety, and other health conditions that can dramatically affect their daily lives. Because of this, we see two common and heartbreaking issues that are pervasive in the service member community: divorce and suicide. Fortunately, there are many therapeutic tools and outlets that have been proven the be effective at helping members restore normalcy in their lives and reintegrate back into healthy routines.
Our goal at Hold the Reins is to provide access to early intervention tools using a functioning farm that offers training with horses and animals, including horseback riding and animal wellness sessions.
It is with our deepest sincerity that we thank you in helping us with our purpose of helping others.
